The Word didn’t become flesh to establish a new religion. He became one of us to restore a broken relationship. He came to restore the true worship of God, which doesn’t presume to earn His blessing through good deeds but rejoices in the unmerited favor He delights to give. Unfortunately, the roots of pride run deep into our flesh; therefore, the ability to accept grace does not come naturally, only supernaturally.

The Claims of the Christ JOHN 5:19-30 NASB 19 Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever [a]the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel. 21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even

But have eternal life.” We are destined to die physically and we exist in a kind of living death in the meantime. While nothing will halt the process of decay, and nothing will prevent the end of physical life, God’s grace will not allow death to reign supreme. Evil will not have the final word. Life—eternal, incorruptible, abundant life—is offered to all who will receive it through faith.

What grace! Jesus reveals the true nature of God. He longs to see His creation saved from the just penalty of sin to thrive forever in His presence. Therefore, the Son of God came to earth to save all humanity from judgment. What hope!

I cannot at the same time accept the glory and give God the glory... Glorifying God means being occupied with and committed to His ways rather than preoccupied with and determined my own way. It is being so thrilled with Him, so devoted to Him, so committed to Him that we cannot get enough of Him!

In many (most?) churches there are programs and activities... but so little worship. There are songs and anthems and musicals... but so little worship. There are announcements and readings and prayers... but so little worship.
