24. Diligent… bear rule Diligence procures wealth and promotion; idleness brings poverty and dependence. The word rendered “slothful” also means deceitful, or fr audulent. They are often connected sloth frequently leading to fraud. In the East a conquered race were compelled to pay heavy taxes, while their conquerors were comparatively free from such burdens.
