In this chapter, the apostle,
(1,) Describes the nature, excellence, and enlightening efficacy of faith, 1-3, and the necessity of it, Hebrews 11:6 .
(2,) He proposes to the believing Hebrews many illustrious examples of it, which had appeared in holy men, whose history is recorded in their Scriptures, and particularly in Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and Sarah, and the other patriarchs, as far as Moses, Hebrews 11:4 , Hebrews 11:5 , Hebrews 11:7-29 .
(3,) He mentions many other glorious instances of it, and besides several recorded in their Scriptures refers also to the case of those who suffered under the persecution of Antiochus Epiphanes, Hebrews 11:30-40 .
