George Shuler, formerly a music-faculty member of the Moody Bible Institute, was playing the organ during a service at the famous Moody Church in Chicago.
Sometime during the service the speaker prayed aloud, “O Lord, overshadow us.”
This thought stuck with young Shuler. After the service, he went to his studio and wrote the words and music of what is now the refrain of the popular gospel song, “Overshadowed.”

CHORUS:
I’m overshadowed by His mighty love,
Love eternal, changeless, pure.
Overshadowed by His mighty love,
Love is mine, serene, secure.
He died to ransom me from sin
He lives to keep me day by day.
I’m overshadowed by His mighty love,
Love that brightens all my ways.
