"I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried; I hope in Thy word." word for law - word; Three straight verses in this section that deals with the personal pronoun, 'I' heavily. I prevented the dawning of the morning - an unusual statement that David was able to prevent the morning from coming on; Yet, in this verse and the next verse there is prevention of natural time expressed by David. For those of you that have been there in such times of sorrow, anguish and pain, time does seem to stand still. The nights are long, 'Will the morning ever come?' is said or thought. David is in sorrow with all this conflict in his life. He needs the Lord and spends it with Him and before Him. When such times come, where else is there to go but unto Thee, O Lord. There is a restraining from the natural way of things. You go to sleep at night; you sleep through the night; you wake by the morning light. Not so here, there is something amiss. His preventing the dawning of the morning is that he has not slept, he is not going to sleep. He is not simply waiting for the dawning of the morning, he has been laboring all night. His anguish pushes him to be before the Lord and stay there. He will nto be denied, he will not reliquinsh until the Lord grants his hearts desire. Oh, how many have prevailed in such times. Jacob wrestled with that night, all night, until the dawning of the morning. But he received the blessing of the Lord and prevailed. We cannot be content with doing without the Lord's mercies and blessings. And some time that requires for us to go out of our norm. Some times we must lose sleep in order to prevail. It is reported of Praying Hyde, that sleep was not something that he did much. He would be up every two hours or so in prayer for souls of India. He would be the last one to bed and the first one up. He would be up long before the dawning of the morning in communion and intercession with the Lord. And cried - there is a need, and the cry of the Lord's servants is offered up unto Him;
