"They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from Thy law." word for law - law; the recognition of David about his enemies, their proximity and the cause of their evil. They draw nigh that follow after mischief - word study, 'draw nigh'; we are given the high privilege to 'draw nigh' unto God, and He will 'draw nigh' unto us. but what happens if the opposite is true? What happens if we draw nigh to sin? to evil? or allow it draw night unto us? David is registering the fact that the enemy is drawing night unto him. He knows who they are, and he knows what their intent is. They are evil men, and evil men practice evil. Oh, do you have the discernment to know what is drawing nigh to you? ARe you able to see the recognition of their fruits and who or Who they serve? You see, it is a rejoicing for brothers and sisters in Christ to draw nigh unto us. But when the evil one or ones draw nigh unto us, their is a state of high alert. they follow after mischief and they will practice mischief when they get to you. They are true to their nature. But what good is it if you do not see them drawing nigh. They catch you by surprise. they have you surrounded. Oh, what damage then. Lift up your eyes and see, be watchful, be diligent, for your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour. And the fact is, that there is more of them than of us. We are surrounded. Many a times it is in the family, one saved and 3 or 4 lost; it is at work, one soul among scores; it is true in school, one saved and hundreds without Christ. They draw nigh to cause you to fall, to see you lose what God has entrusted unto you. This is the reason, that every morning you must rise and lift up your eyes, not unto them, but the hills from whence cometh your help, your help cometh to you in the Name of the Lord. Your help draws nigh from Christ. Draw nigh unto Him, unto our Lord, and the enemy cannot get to us. make no provision for the flesh, make no time for the world, for if you do, then soon and very soon, you will draw nigh unto sin. And you will find yourself in mischief of evil men. It is the sad, mournful testimony of many a saint, who has fallen prey to such tactics of Satan and his followers. They weren't ready; they didn't see who was drawing nigh and they were taken captive by sin. May God open our eyes to see; may He open our hearts to consider and know this truth. For how shall we draw nigh unto Him, unless our heart is pure and our hands are clean. 'For who shall ascend the hill of the Lord, but he that has a clean hands and a pure heart.' Oh, may we made pure and undefiled to draw nigh unto Him. Lest the fowler ensnare us.
