Peace I Leave With You
By Dan Erickson
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled…" John 14:27
Our dear Saviour entered the world amidst heavenly proclamations of "peace on earth, good will toward men." He left His peace to His followers as a precious Gift which the Holy Spirit makes real in our experience, the "peace of God, which passeth all understanding" keeping our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Truly He is our peace. Philippians 4:7; Ephesians 2:14a
Yet, we know that the "God of peace" is also the God "whose name is Holy." II Corinthians 13:11; Isaiah 57:15. To live at rest in His presence is to have dealt with sin, self and the Holy Spirit for victory over all that grieves God and drives His peace from our hearts.
We also know that God's peace in our hearts is for as well as from obedience. He fills us in order to overflow. We overflow in prayer and giving which is evident as we continue to be the Lord's channels of these graces toward the cause of revival.
Grace and peace to you in Christ.
