WHAT DOES REVIVAL LOOK LIKE?
Part 1
By Dr. T.V. Thomas
When we look at the mediocrity of the Christian life and the mediocrity of church experience now in North America we have to say what is normal is subnormal. What is normal now is substandard. If we knew what normal is supposed to be we will recognize what subnormal is. We have a whole generation who has never seen a revival.
What does revival look like in a Biblical perspective?
most revivals were preceded by deep spiritual decline and despair.
each of these revivals began in the heart of a consecrated servant of God.
revival rested solidly on the Word of God and most were the result of proclaiming God's Word with power.
all revivals resulted in a return to the genuine worship of Yaweh (single hearted focus on the person of God).
each revival witnessed the destruction of idols and removal where they existed (except for Zerubabel, Ezra & Nehemiah). God will not share His glory and honour with another.
in each revival there was a deep sense of sin and an overpowering desire to separate themselves from it and from all its sponsoring causes.
