What Is God Up To? by Gordon Brown When Jesus was preaching His sermon on the mount, He said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled." Matthew 5:6. "What is God up to?" is something I often ask myself. The answer can come in different ways. One way is by what He is doing in people's lives. I have seen this past year that there is a greater hunger after God. Recently I was privileged to speak at yearly retreat for a prayer group from southern Manitoba. Many expressed how God working in their lives and how they had a desire for the deeper. One lady said, "I have been hearing so much about dying to self and I know this is what I need to do." In other countries where I have been or when I counsel over the internet, there is also a hunger after God. When I spoke at a men's breakfast in Central America, we had an altar call and all the men came forward to do business with the Lord. At a morning service in one church, after an altar call all responded, except a few young people and children. One man from Finland, requesting prayer over the internet, said, "I need plenty more belief, plenty more power of prayer, and more Holy Ghost with me." A man from Nigeria requested prayer, saying, "I need spiritual understanding with God." Another man from Uganda requested prayer in the following way, "To strengthen me in Him (God). In my own life, I have a greater thirst after God, which I also see in may others. To me this indicates that God is up to something big in the future.
