Youth and Revival: What's Going On? - Part 3 By Brian Thiessen Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Why does God use Youth? Why in the past has He chosen to use this age group? These thoughts are not exhaustive but I am going to suggest a few. The first reason is that God is finding soft hearts that are sensitive to God's leading and instruction. This is characterized by a willingness to be obedient to the things that God wants us to do with our lives and the things that God would like us to change about ourselves. Almost certainly this leads to purity in a person's life, a deeper commitment in their relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion to follow Christ and be used by Him. When individuals accept the gift of salvation and the Lordship of Jesus Christ in their lives there is a brokenness that results. A total surrendering of will takes place. The experience is filled with humility and selflessness, as we come to the cross of Christ and become a new creation. There we leave our old desires of this world and take on the desires of Christ. Those of us who became Christians or were renewed as youth, remember that change that took place in our lives. We remember how we were so on fire, and how we loved to spend time in the Word, in prayer and in worship. We remember how God gave us a burden for our friends and how we witnessed freely. All too often we find that we have lost that fire that was in our lives when we first received the Lord. Who is more useful to the Lord - those of us who have lost our passion for the things of the Lord or those who are on fire? It is easy to see why God is able to begin great works of revival and awakening with this age group where 80% of Christians find salvation and many experience renewal, a time of brokenness and humility, a time pf passion and obedience a time where God touches hearts.
