Intend Well Towards All

Jude speaks of those who walk in "the way of Cain" (Jude 11). Who are they? They are those who do not intend well towards their brothers. God told Cain that his fundamental problem was that he "did not intend well" towards his brother Abel (Gen.4:7 margin). It is good for all of us to have a spiritu... Read More

Inward And Outward Sacrifices

It is true that many in Christendom have placed a greater emphasis on the external sacrifices, than on the inner sacrifice of taking up the cross, that the New Testament calls us to. But it is possible for us, in an over-reaction to that error, to go to the other extreme of living a life where all o... Read More

Is Your Heart On Fire For The Lord?

In Revelation 3:14-22, we read about the church in Laodicea that was not on fire for God. They were just plain "lukewarm". They were dead right in their doctrines - but they were both dead and right! They were morally respectable - and spiritually dead! The Lord wants our hearts to be on fire at all... Read More

It is Dangerous to Follow the Majority

In Numbers 13 we find that the Israelites came to Kadesh Barnea at the border of Canaan - the land that God had promised them. It was now two years since they left Egypt (Deut.2:14), and God told them to go in and posses the land. The Israelites sent twelve spies to survey the land. All twelve of th... Read More

Jesus - Tempted As We Are

The secret of a godly life lies in Jesus Who lived on earth as a Man, and Who was tempted in every way as we are, but never sinned even once in thought, word, deed, attitude or motive or in any other way (1 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 4:15). Since it is only those who have come to a godly life who can live toge... Read More

Jesus Became Sin In Order To Make Us Righteous

The Bible teaches that Jesus took our place on the cross. "God made Christ Who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Cor.5:21). Jesus Ever Lives to Make Intercession for Us (Hebrews 7:25)

In Zechariah chapter 3, we read that Joshua the high priest was standing before the Lord and Satan stood there to accuse him. Satan is always seeking to accuse and harm the leaders. Jesus Learned Obedience by Denying Himself

In Hebrews 5:8, we read that "although He was a Son He learned obedience from the things He suffered." Jesus had to learn obedience. 'Learn' is a word connected with education. Jesus had to get an education in obedience in the days of His flesh. As God in heaven, He had never obeyed anyone. If you h... Read More

Jesus Never Pleased Himself

In Romans 15:3 - it is written about Jesus that "He did not please Himself". He always denied Himself. Thus He pleased the Father at all times. Justification

Forgiveness of our sins takes away the guilt of the past. But that doesn't make us perfectly holy. And so, we still can't stand before a perfectly holy God. And so God had to do something more for us. He had to justify us! Justification means that God has put the perfect righteousness of Christ to o... Read More

Knowing God Intimately Is The Secret Of Being Strong

"The people who know their God will be strong" (Dan.11:32) Today, God does not want us to know Him second-hand through others. He invites even the youngest believer to know Him personally (Heb.8:11). Jesus defined eternal life as knowing God and Jesus Christ personally (John 17:3). This was the grea... Read More

Leadership Qualities of Nehemiah

In Nehemiah 1:1-3 we find that Nehemiah was concerned enough to find out the state of the exiles who had returned and of Jerusalem. This is the primary characteristic of any man whom God uses - he has a concern for people and then God gives him a burden. If you want to serve the Lord, begin with a c... Read More

Learn from Jesus to Speak Words of Encouragement

Our speech is a great revealer of what is in our hearts. Jesus said that from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Whatever is in your heart will come out when you speak. You can't hide it for long. Why do people belittle others, pass remarks and jokes about other people that hurt them? Why... Read More
