When an Alexander arises and hurries through the world, snatching crowns on the right hand and on the left, and threatening to take unto himself all sublunary power, the people of God are told to fear not; the kingdom is for them, not him. So too when a Julius Caesar grasps at the sceptre of universal dominion. And when a Napoleon appears on the scene, they calmly wait to see him and his kingdom vanish. For they have looked with Daniel on the image that expressed before hand the vicissitudes of the world from the Babylonian dominion down to the time when dominion is given unto the Son of man, and by him given to the people of the saints of the Most High. The meek shall inherit the earth. Not only is there for them an inheritance reserved in heaven; but thrones shall come down from heaven and be set upon the earth; and they shall sit thereon. " For we shall reign on the earth." But who are these unmanifested kings and priests? They are now a little company of sheep; a little flock; mutely submissive when led to the slaughter; willing to be inglorious, poor, weak, despised, rejected; fitting themselves to be all that is great and excellent and powerful, by their willingness to be nothing.

"Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." - Luke 12:32. 

Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. § Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? § Heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. The Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me. § God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. § There is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. § He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Daily Light on the Daily Path or Daily Light is a Christian daily devotional scripture reading published by Bagster & Sons about 1875. It has been reprinted continually since then. It consists of brief groupings of scripture passages which speak to prominent Biblical themes—two themes (morning and evening) for each day of the year. It appends no commentary, but simply allows scripture to speak for itself.

Morning Daily Light

 Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 

Here we have no continuing city. § You have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven. Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials. § There the wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary are at rest. We who are in this tent groan, being burdened. § God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. § Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

 We do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 

My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight … but now My kingdom is not from here. § Waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever! § You . . . have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth. § I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgement was committed to them. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their father. § Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. § Your kingdom come.

Evening Daily Light

 God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory. 

The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord. § If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it? I am the Lord, and there is no other; there is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, that they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is none besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other; I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things. He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand or say to Him, “What have You done?” § If God is for us, who can be against us? He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. § Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

 The Lord has established His throne in heaven,and His kingdom rules over all. 

I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way. § We do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses. Then they brought little children to Him … And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them. I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant. § The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. § You were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. § “I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down,” says the Lord God.

 He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those who are with young.
