The liberty of the child of God is one of his priceless possessions. Made free by the Son, he is free indeed. But he is called to responsible freedom, not to license.Children want to be free from the restraints of home. Young people want to be free from the discipline of study. Adults want to be free from their marriage vows. Still others rebel against being boxed in by regular employment. But these are not the freedoms to which we are called.The stars are not free to leave their orbits and wander throughout space.  Over wide stretches of the earth 
 the people of God are being driven, scattered, having everything outward 
 taken. The question is: Why does the Lord allow it? Why is it so, if the Lord 
 is wise, and almighty, and gracious? It is to discover how much the Heavenly 
 Christ is to His people, and how much they depend upon the earthly order of 
 things, even the Christian order.
 
 “That 
 which was from the beginning.... Little children, it is the last hour...
 
 the one who 
 does the will of God lives for ever”. 
 Do you see the link? If at the end, at the last hour, it is as it was from the 
 beginning, then it will abide for ever, but if it has become something else, 
 it will go. This whole question of heavenly relationship with the Lord is a 
 tremendously searching one, the fact that Christ has transferred everything to 
 heaven and that nothing less than a life in heavenly union with Him will stand 
 the test at any time. We will ask the Lord that He will take this – if it 
 really is the truth – and search us. It may be that some of us will find 
 comfort, because we shall see this is exactly what the Lord is doing with us. 
 Why isolation? Why the testings? Why the loneliness in spiritual life? To save 
 us from things unto Himself, even Christian things, so that God’s end that 
 Christ may be all and in all shall be reached; not things, but Christ; not 
 Christianity, but Christ; not Christian work, but Christ.

 The Heavenly Christ 

Now my days are swifter than a runner; they flee away, they see no good. They pass by like swift ships, like an eagle swooping on its prey. § You carry them away like a flood; they are like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up: in the morning it flourishes and grows up; in the evening it is cut down and withers. § Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. He comes forth like a flower and fades away. The world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. § They will perish, but You will endure; yes, they will all grow old like a garment; like a cloak You will change them, and they will be changed. Daily Light on the Daily Path or Daily Light is a Christian daily devotional scripture reading published by Bagster & Sons about 1875. It has been reprinted continually since then.  What is your life? It is even a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 

Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. He comes forth like a flower and fades away; he flees like a shadow and does not continue. § The world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. § As in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive… Death is swallowed up in victory. § For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. § To live is Christ, and to die is gain. Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. “For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry.” § The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. § The end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

 Brethren, the time is short. 

The world is passing away, and the lust of it. § Surely every man walks about like a shadow; surely they busy themselves in vain; he heaps up riches, and does not know who will gather them. § What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her. § I want you to be without care. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. § The Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. § The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. 

You shall not follow a crowd to do evil. Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. What fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? § Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him … The world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. You once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience. § You have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him … as the truth is in Jesus.

 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. 

So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. § What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. § The world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. § Use this world as not misusing it. For the form of this world is passing away. § Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Evening Daily Light

Understand what the will of the Lord is. It is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
