<p><span class="fs-17 fg-mustard bold">For Reading and Meditation:</span><br><span class="italic">     <span class="scriptRef" ref="heb+10:19-25">Hebrews 10:19-25</span></span></p><p>Yesterday we ended with the thought that the very first thing we ought to do when seeking to break out of the vicious circle of doubt is to go to the house of God. The psalmist has been prevented from falling by considering the consequences of his actions upon his brethren, so now his next step is to go and meet with them in the sanctuary. Whether it be in a cathedral or a cottage, how wonderful it is to join with Christian brothers and sisters. It is not so much the place that is important as the redeeming and healing fellowship we find there. Oftentimes people find release just by sitting down among their brothers and sisters and feeling the healing power of their warmth and love. One famous preacher said: "The house of God has delivered me from 'the mumps and measles of the soul' a thousand times and more - merely by entering its doors." What is it about being among our fellow believers that is so helpful and encouraging? One thing is the very fact that our fellow believers are there. You see, in our private misery and perplexity we could easily run away with the idea that there is nothing very much in the Christian faith after all, and that it is not worth our going on. But when we enter into the Lord's house and see our fellow believers coming together, often our doubts disappear. We say to ourselves, albeit unconsciously: "Here are people who think the Christian life is worth continuing with. My uncertainties must be wrong - there must be something in it after all." </p><p class="center-it italic bold mlr40 mtb20">O Father, help me see the power that flows towards me through Christian fellowship. Just as I am encouraged by it, help me to encourage others. In Jesus' Name I pray. <p><span class="fs-17 fg-mustard bold">For Reading and Meditation:</span><br><span class="italic">     <span class="scriptRef" ref="ps+42:1-11">Psalm 42:1-11</span></span></p><p>Over the past few days we have seen how the psalmist was caught in the hiatus between the moment when he stopped himself from sliding and the moment when he started to climb again. This, we said, is a very critical time - critical because it makes us inclined to accept easy answers. The perplexity did not end when the psalmist stopped himself from slipping. His thoughts still went around in circles and he continued to have great anguish of heart and mind. How, then, were his thoughts concerning the prosperity of the ungodly resolved? Not by grabbing at superficial answers, but by going into the sanctuary of God, where he could begin to see the whole situation from God's point of view. Listen to how he puts it: "When I tried to understand all this, it was oppressive to me till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final  destiny'"(<span class="scriptRef" ref="ps+73:16-17">Psalm 73:16-17</span>). The word "sanctuary" here literally means the physical house of God. Some translations use the phrase, "till I entered the secret of God", but that is incorrect. Read  <span class="scriptRef" ref="ps+74">Psalm 74</span> and read  <span class="scriptRef" ref="ps+76">Psalm 76</span> and you will find that they both refer to the material building where God was worshipped. Had the psalmist, I wonder, like so many of us when we are filled with doubt and uncertainty, stayed away from the sanctuary of God? How strange that the last thing we want to do when our hearts are filled with doubts and misunderstandings is meet with our fellow believers in the house of God. Yet that is the very first thing we ought to do. </p><p class="center-it italic bold mlr40 mtb20">Gracious Father, I am so grateful that You have ordained that Your people meet together. Help me understand more clearly than ever the value and benefits that flow from being with Your people. In Jesus' Name I ask it. <p><span class="fs-17 fg-mustard bold">For Reading and Meditation:</span><br><span class="italic">     <span class="scriptRef" ref="joh+6:25-33">John 6:25-33</span></span></p><p>It is because God is so utterly trustworthy and reliable that the Christian life at heart is a life of trust. In the passage before us today our Lord is asked: "What must we do to do the works God requires?" (v. 28). His answer was entirely different from that which you would receive if you posed the question to adherents of different religious systems today. A Buddhist would answer: "We must follow the eightfold path of Buddhism." A Muslim would answer: "We must fast and pray and make a trip to Mecca." Some followers of the Christian way might answer "We must engage in regular Bible study, prayer, tithing and Christian fellowship." But the answer Jesus gave was this: "The work of God is this: to believe " George Watson, a devotional writer, said: "To trust the Origin of our existence is the fundamental grace of life. There is one virtue [in God] that stands out forever more conspicuously than friendship, or love, or knowledge, or wisdom  it is fidelity. God's fidelity is in Him what trust is in us" (emphasis mine). Understanding that God is utterly trustworthy will deliver us from such incapacitating emotions as worry, anxiety and fear. To be overwhelmed by the concerns of this life reflects poorly upon the faithfulness of God. An old saint who was dying became concerned that he couldn't remember any of God's promises. His pastor said: "Do you think that God will forget any of them?" A smile came over the face of the dying Christian as he exclaimed joyfully: "No, no, He won't." That too is our confidence. He won't forget, because being God, He can't forget.</p><p class="center-it italic bold mlr40 mtb20">O God my Father, if fidelity in You is what trust is in us, then help us come to a place where our trust matches Your fidelity. We confess we are not there yet, but we long to arrive. Help us, dear Father. In Jesus' Name. <p><span class="fs-17 fg-mustard bold">For Reading and Meditation:</span><br><span class="italic">     <span class="scriptRef" ref="heb+10:19-31">Hebrews 10:19-31</span></span></p><p>The Bible is a veritable mine of information on the fact of God's faithfulness. More than 4,000 years ago He said: "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease"  (<span class="scriptRef" ref="ge+8:22">Genesis 8:22</span>). Every year furnishes us with fresh evidence that He has not gone back on His Word. In  <span class="scriptRef" ref="ge+15:13-14">Genesis 15:13-14</span>God declared to Abraham: "Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and ill-treated four hundred years. But  afterwards they will come out with great possessions." Did that happen?  <span class="scriptRef" ref="ex+12:41">Exodus 12:41</span> says: "At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord's divisions left Egypt." The prophet Isaiah predicted that a virgin should conceive and bear a son whose name would be Immanuel  (<span class="scriptRef" ref="isa+7:14">Isaiah 7:14</span>). Centuries later the prediction came to pass. In  <span class="scriptRef" ref="ga+4:4">Galatians 4:4</span> we read: "But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman ." I wish I had the space to take you through the pages of Scripture and show you how faithful God has been to His Word. But you have a Bible for yourself; study it. Read it to know God. It is absolutely imperative that we who live in an age when unfaithfulness abounds, should acquaint ourselves with the fact of God's faithfulness. This is the basis of our confidence in Him. And this is why the Bible fairly bulges with this great and gripping truth. The more of God's truth we pack into our souls, the better equipped we are for the road that lies ahead.</p><p class="center-it italic bold mlr40 mtb20">Gracious and loving Father, the more I learn about Your nature and character the more I want to know. Just these glimpses I am getting set my soul on fire to know You more intimately. Take me deeper, dear Lord. In Jesus' Name. <p><span class="fs-17 fg-mustard bold">For Reading and Meditation:</span><br><span class="italic">     <span class="scriptRef" ref="heb+10:19-25">Hebrews 10:19-25</span></span></p><p>In every religion in the world apart from Christianity there is a note of uncertainty concerning this matter of personal salvation. Many modern religious attitudes are expressed in the limerick: For as much as without Thee We are not able to doubt Thee, O grant us Thy grace To inform the whole race That we know nothing whatever about Thee. Can we be satisfied with this? St. Augustine said he wished to be as certain of things unseen as that seven and three make ten. The human heart longs for certainty - it needs to know without a shadow of doubt that the salvation of the soul is secure. The good news is that in Jesus Christ such security is found. When we turn from other religions to the Word of God, it is like stepping out of thick fog into clear and brilliant sunlight. Our text today talks not just of assurance but full assurance - the full assurance of faith. What is faith? Faith is simply taking God at His Word, accepting what He asserts and acting accordingly. Listen to just one of the many things God says concerning this matter: "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved"  (<span class="scriptRef" ref="ro+10:13">Romans 10:13</span>). Have you called on Christ and received Him into your heart? Then you have scriptural warrant for believing on that basis alone, quite apart from personal feelings, that you are a child of God, and that you are going to spend eternity with Him. What a salvation! What a Savior! </p><p class="center-it italic bold mlr40 mtb20">My Father and my God, what a joy it is to know that You make available to me not just assurance but full assurance. Fill the cup of my heart until it is overflowing with the sense of divine assurance. And keep it full, dear Father. In Jesus' Name. "... let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith ..." (v. 22) 

<p>God is faithful and true. He cannot lie or deceive. He cannot go back on His word. He is absolutely trustworthy. No promise of His can ever fail.</p><p>"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"(<span class="scriptRef" ref="nu+23:19">Numbers 23:19</span>). "Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God" (<span class="scriptRef" ref="de+7:9">Deuteronomy 7:9</span>). "Thy faithfulness is unto all generations" (<span class="scriptRef" ref="ps+119:90">Psalms 119:90</span>).</p><p>God's faithfulness is seen in His calling us into the fellowship of His Son (<span class="scriptRef" ref="1co+1:9">1 Corinthians 1:9</span>). It is seen in not allowing us to be tempted beyond what we can bear (<span class="scriptRef" ref="1co+10:13">1 Corinthians 10:13</span>). It is seen in the way He establishes us and keeps us from evil (<span class="scriptRef" ref="2th+3:3">2 Thessalonians 3:3</span>). Even if some do not believe, yet He remains faithful: He cannot deny Himself (<span class="scriptRef" ref="2ti+2:13">2 Timothy 2:13</span>).</p><p>The Lord Jesus is truth incarnate (<span class="scriptRef" ref="joh+14:6">John 14:6</span>). The Word of God is sanctifying truth (<span class="scriptRef" ref="joh+17:17">John 17:17</span>). "Let God be true, but every man a liar" (<span class="scriptRef" ref="ro+3:4">Romans 3:4</span>).</p><p>The knowledge that God is faithful and true floods our souls with confidence. We know that His Word cannot fail, that He will do as He has promised (<span class="scriptRef" ref="heb+10:23">Hebrews 10:23</span>). We know, for instance, that we are eternally secure, because He said that no sheep of His will ever perish (<span class="scriptRef" ref="joh+10:28">John 10:28</span>). We know that we will never want because He has promised to supply all our needs (<span class="scriptRef" ref="php+4:19">Philippians 4:19</span>).</p><p>God wants His people to be faithful and true. He wants us to be true to our word. He wants us to be dependable in keeping appointments. We should not be given to lies, exaggeration or half-truths. We should be faithful in keeping our promises. Christians, above all people, should be faithful to their marriage vows. They should be faithful in discharging their commitments in the assembly, in business and in the home.</p><p>How we should praise and thank the Lord for His faithfulness. He is the God who cannot fail.</p><p>He cannot fail - for He is God</p><p>He cannot fail - He gave His Word.</p><p>He cannot fail - He'll see you through.</p><p>He cannot fail - He'll answer you.</p><p>C. <p>We have professed to believe that God gave his Son to bear our sins in his own body on the tree; that God has accepted us in his Son; that he is our heavenly Father, and Christ our perpetual intercessor; that not having spared his only begotten Son, he will with him also freely give us all things; that what ever we ask according to his will, we have the petitions that we desired of him; that not one jot or tittle of his word can pass away.  Now the things we have thus professed to receive lot us hold fast. Immense efforts are made to get them from our grasp. Sometimes we are left alone for a season that we may be lulled asleep; but the design never sleeps in the purpose of the adversary. Should a man walk through a crowded city with rubies, diamonds and precious pearls sprinkled over his garments, and expect that no attempt will be made to snatch from him these treasures, his security will not be so much misplaced as that of the man who, walking through this world with the promises of God conspicuous about him, fancies that no endeavor will be made to lessen his store. It is not that the promises are wanted; but it is wanted that men should not believe upon them. When, therefore, you hear a whisper to the effect that you have done well in giving evidence of your zeal and self-denial and independence of the world, and that now you may without any danger relax a little in the rigidness of your principles, remember that God abhors all wavering and instability: hold fast the profession of your faith. Know no change but that involved in progress. Hold fast what you have, while you add to it what you lack. </p>

<p align="justify">Faith is going to determine which of two things 
is going to characterize us. This is the real point. It is either going to be 
that we are living under a terrible paralysis, as altogether petrified through 
confusion, perplexity, inability to understand, being unable to disentangle, to 
sort things out, to see straight and see clearly, to know what is meant by 
happenings. That means utter paralysis, simply standing with our hands on our 
hips, helpless and hopeless. That is the effect of the absence of a positive 
faith. The only way of Life and deliverance from such a paralysis is a 
deliberate faith in God which causes us to take the attitude that we are going 
on with God, understanding or not understanding, explaining or not explaining, 
having light or having no light; we are going right on with God on the basis of 
what God has done in us, made real in us, of what God Himself is to us by what 
He has effected in us. We are going on! </p>
<p align="justify">We, beloved, shall come there and may come 
there more than once in the course of our life; we shall come to the place where 
we realise we are going right out into outer darkness and despair and paralysis, 
to be ruled completely out of any effectiveness, fruitfulness, or value 
whatever, unless we pull ourselves together and say to ourselves, "The whole 
thing is an inexplicable, bewildering confusion, a tangle from our standpoint or 
the standpoint of man; but God is, God is faithful. That is what He Himself says 
He is." Thus without questioning God we go on believing God. We have even to 
believe God to the point of putting over on to Him the responsibility for 
failures, for mistakes, in so far as we have really and honestly put our lives 
at His disposal and have become utter for God and are free from personal 
interests and worldly interests and are here only for God. We have to make over 
to the Lord's account things which may have been mistakes or failures, and trust 
Him with these and go on. </p>

 Positive Faith 

<p>He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead.<br><br>The promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.<br><br>The just shall live by faith. § Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. § Our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. § With God nothing will be impossible… Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.</p>

Daily Light on the Daily Path or Daily Light is a Christian daily devotional scripture reading published by Bagster & Sons about 1875. It has been reprinted continually since then. </blockquote><p style="text-align: justify;">There is no use in forcing any spiritual issue in our lives, nor in anyone else's. When our Father has us prepared for progress through the knowledge of His facts, we will believe; we will reckon upon and rest in the required truth.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">"What is the secret of reckoning? It is not reckoning toward death, but from death.</p><p style="text-align: justify;">"There is no need to talk about victorious Christian living unless we are willing to face the fact that as believers we are out of our element here in this world. We are living in enemy territory.
