One Temple

God’s desire for the church is not a bunch of individuals having a relationship with Him, but one unified body. Ephesians 2:22 says “In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”

He Dwells with Us

The Bible often describes believers as being one temple or one body. Jesus prays in John 17 that we would be united, but in our day and age, there is such a temptation to make a name for ourselves. Like those who built the tower of Babel, we want to build our own towers to be seen by others rather than joining ourselves as one temple. 
 
“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, ****built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, ****in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. ****In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:19-22

Dr. Vince Vitale was educated at Princeton University and the University of Oxford, and he taught philosophy and theology as a faculty member briefly at Princeton and then for several years at Oxford. It was during his undergraduate studies at Princeton that Vince was challenged to read the Bible by two soccer teammates and took an unexpected journey from skeptic to evangelist. He then completed master’s and PhD studies at Oxford, receiving a Daniel M. Sachs Graduating Scholarship (at the time awarded annually to one graduating Princetonian) and a Clarendon Scholarship (supported by Oxford University Press). 
 
Alongside his work with Kardia, Vince serves as Faculty Scholar at CEO Forum and as a host of the Unbelievable? podcast. Previously, he served as Team Director of The Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics.

Our Towers, His Temple (Ephesians Pt. 8) | Francis Chan

In our fast-paced world where we are constantly taking in information, meditating on truths found in scripture has become a lost art. One of these amazing truths, found in Ephesians 2:6, is that God has raised us up with Him and seated us in the heavenly places with Christ! We encourage you to take some time to meditate on this.

Meditating on the Word

Do you realize that our God is a God who IS rich in mercy? He didn’t send His Son to cleanse us from all of our sins just because He felt like it. His nature is to forgive and show grace. 
 
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ.” (Ephesians 2:4-5)

Saved by Grace

Before God saved us, we were dead. There was nothing we could have done to save ourselves. But at the core of God’s character, He IS rich in mercy. That is His nature. And He loved us so much that even when we were dead in our sin, He saved us.

But God...

1 Corinthians 2:1-2 “And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.“

Many of those who have grown up in the church have become numb to the thought of Christ being crucified. We get bored or want a dynamic speaker to move us. We think we need to come up with something new.  But the Word of the Cross is the power of God to us who are being saved!
