NewHope Church

In his sermon "How To Lead Yourself Into Temptation," Pastor Adam reminded us that while God never tempts us, we often create the conditions for temptation ourselves by drifting from His presence and guidance. 
 
Today’s gathering was a celebration of God’s faithfulness and a call to deeper spiritual awareness. We began by commissioning a team heading to serve our sister church in the Dominican Republic, reminding ourselves that God’s work is global and that we are privileged to participate in it. This partnership is a living testimony that the Church is bigger than any one location, and that our prayers and support matter for those serving and being served. 
 
We also celebrated the completion of our renovated kids’ space, a tangible investment in the next generation. The vision behind this project is not just about new rooms or fun games, but about creating environments where children can encounter the gospel in ways that are meaningful for their stage of life. By intentionally structuring our ministries to meet kids where they are, we are shaping worldviews and preparing young hearts for a lifetime of faith. The generosity of our church family has made this possible, and it’s a reminder that sacrificial giving is a form of worship and a way to participate in God’s ongoing story. 
 
Turning to the teaching, we focused on the final petition of the Lord’s Prayer: “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” Temptation is a universal experience, but it’s important to remember that God does not tempt us. Instead, He provides a way out when we are tempted. Temptation itself is not sin—Jesus Himself was tempted—rather, it’s our response that matters. The enemy’s strategy is to create conditions that activate our old sinful nature, but our identity in Christ means we are not defined by our past or our struggles. 
 
We explored four subtle ways we can inadvertently lead ourselves into temptation: staying in discouragement, harboring a critical spirit, maintaining a frantic schedule, and neglecting worship. Each of these opens the door for the enemy to work, but God offers us tools to resist. Standing on His promises, practicing encouragement, embracing Sabbath rest, and choosing to worship—especially in difficult times—are all ways to fight back. Worship, in particular, is a powerful weapon; when we worship, the enemy flees, and our hearts are realigned with God’s truth. The challenge is to make worship a lifestyle, not just a Sunday activity, and to claim our homes and lives as places where God is honored above all.

Focus On What Matters

Pastor Nick teaches that forgiveness is less about fairness and more about freedom. Since we’ve been forgiven much, we’re called to let go, even when it’s hard, and extend that same grace to others. 
 
Forgiveness is one of the most challenging invitations Jesus gives, yet it is also one of the most transformative. As we reflect on the Lord’s Prayer—specifically, “forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors”—we are reminded that forgiveness is not about the worthiness of the other person, but about the grace we ourselves have received. Our ability to forgive is rooted in the reality that Jesus has already forgiven us—completely, unconditionally, and before we even asked. He paid our debt in full, nailing it to the cross, and invites us to drink deeply from the well of his mercy. 
 
Remembering well is essential to forgiving well. We are forgetful people, prone to recall the wrongs done to us while losing sight of the immense forgiveness we have received. When we remember the depth of our own need and the extravagant grace of God, it becomes much harder to withhold forgiveness from others. The evidence that we have truly received God’s forgiveness is seen in how we extend it to those who have wronged us. 
 
Forgiveness is never convenient, nor is it about forgetting the pain or pretending the hurt never happened. Rather, it is about choosing not to focus on the infraction, refusing to let bitterness take root, and walking in the freedom Christ offers. Forgiveness is not fair—grace never is. But just as we do not want God to treat us with strict fairness, we are called to extend the same mercy to others. 
 
Offering forgiveness is not a one-time event, but a continual process. There will be moments when old wounds resurface, and we must choose again to forgive, remembering the cross and the price paid for our freedom. Sometimes, the hardest person to forgive is ourselves, but the audacious grace of Jesus covers even our deepest regrets. As we take steps to forgive, we are not only setting others free, but also unlocking the shackles that have bound our own hearts.

In this week’s message at NewHope Church, we explored the powerful invitation of Jesus found in the Lord’s Prayer: “Give us today our daily bread.” This prayer is more than a request for physical sustenance—it is a call to radical trust in God’s provision for our spiritual, emotional, and daily needs. Through communion, we remembered that Jesus, the Bread of Life, offers us more than survival—He offers transformation. In a world that often pushes us toward independence and self-sufficiency, this message reminds us to return to the table of grace where God provides not only for today, but for eternity. 
 
Drawing from Exodus 16, we reflected on how God faithfully gave manna to the Israelites in the wilderness, even as they doubted His care. Like them, we often struggle to trust in seasons of uncertainty, tempted to return to old habits rather than step into God’s promise of freedom. Yet, God continues to meet us with grace, inviting us to live with a posture of daily dependence. When we feast on the Word of God, pursue intimacy through prayer, serve within a Christ-centered community, and remember Jesus’ sacrifice, we begin to experience true spiritual nourishment. God’s daily provision is not just about meeting our needs—it’s about reshaping our lives with Kingdom purpose. For anyone searching for spiritual growth, emotional healing, or a deeper connection with Jesus, this message is a powerful reminder: God’s provision is enough, and it is available—fresh—every day.
