1. What do most middle schoolers think are the best things in life to live for? 
2. Knowing Jesus is better than what this world offers (riches, success, and popularity). But does it have to be one or the other? Why or why not?

1. When is it easy for you to complain and argue? Why is it so hard to be around people who complain and argue? 
2. Paul calls God's truth the "word of life." Why do you think he calls it that? How would God's words give life? 
3. What are some of your favorite things about God? What are some of your favorite promises He makes? Why? 
4. What would be a doable goal for this week to learn more about what God says in the Bible? 
5. Right now is a difficult time because we can't see each other as much. What are creative ways you can serve other people right now? What is one thing you can do this week?

Ephesians 6:1-4 - Children and Parents

The disciples return from their first ministry trip expecting to get some time away with Jesus. Instead, he performs the biggest miracle of his life - the only one recorded in all four gospels. By feeding the 5000, Jesus teaches his disciples three important lessons about ministry - ones they will never forget as they spend the rest of their lives feeding a hungry world. 1. What is your reaction to this quote from Bill Lawrence’s book, Effective Pastoring: 
 
Jesus was telling His men, in essence, “I will replace your inadequacy with My adequacy.” The message Jesus communicated to His disciples through this miracle was this: To minister for Me you will have to do what you can’t do with what you don’t have.[1] 
 
2. One of the lessons here is that you need to “bring Jesus what you have.” What might keep a person from doing this? 
 
3. What could it look like to “Keep coming back for more bread”? 
 
4. What advice would you give to a young believer who was looking to get started serving God in ministry?
