When Your hope Is Placed In A Moment

For generations, God promised a Savior, a Messiah, to free His people from oppression. They expected a political leader, a king. Then Jesus came, proclaiming the Kingdom of God. Many were excited, but it soon became clear He wasn't a political king, and His kingdom wasn't political. Since Jesus is our King, we don't stress over election results like others do. No matter which party takes office, God still holds the world. And on Wednesday, after the election, Jesus will still be King.

Jesus Is King

Because Jesus is our King, we don’t worry about election results the way people who are citizens of earth do. We know no matter which party holds office, no matter who is president, our God still holds the world and Jesus is still King. (Romans 15:8-13)

In a world divided by political allegiances, we are called to something far greater—the eternal kingdom of Jesus. While many focus on winning elections or policies, our mission is to help people find and follow Jesus, building a nation of Christians united in love. More important than political victories is the victory of hearts turning to Christ. Romans 13 reminds us that our hope isn’t in earthly rulers but in the King of Kings, whose kingdom will never fall. This message calls us to be lights in a world clouded by fear, offering kindness, humility, and courage. Though we respect authority, our ultimate trust is in Jesus, who holds our future, our country, and our hope in His hands.

How Could I Be So Wrong?

As Paul continues discussing the issue dividing Christians at the time – whether they could eat meat that had been sacrificed to an idol – he presents an unexpected conclusion - thoughtfulness. Paul was convinced that it was fine to eat such meat, but whether or not he ate it should not be based on his opinion, but on what was best for the person with whom he was eating. “If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.”
