13. നിങ്ങൾ ഭൂമിയുടെ ഉപ്പാകുന്നു; ഉപ്പു കാരമില്ലാതെപോയാൽ അതിന്നു എന്തൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു രസം വരുത്താം? പുറത്തു കളഞ്ഞിട്ടു മനുഷ്യർ ചവിട്ടുവാൻ അല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നിന്നും പിന്നെ കൊള്ളുന്നതല്ല.
14.നിങ്ങൾ ലോകത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചം ആകുന്നു; മലമേൽ ഇരിക്കുന്ന പട്ടണം മറഞ്ഞിരിപ്പാൻ പാടില്ല.
15.വിളക്കു കത്തിച്ചു പറയിൻകീഴല്ല തണ്ടിന്മേലത്രെ വെക്കുന്നതു; അപ്പോൾ അതു വീട്ടിലുള്ള എല്ലാവർക്കും പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു.

13.You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its savor, how shall it be salted? it is thereafter good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
15. Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under a bushel, but on a lamp stand; and it gives light unto all that are in the house.
16. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
