John the Baptizer has choices. He also had a calling. His calling was to remind God’s people about God’s grace in the wilderness, the life of wandering. John also had family, friends and the country complicit with the political alliance between the Roman Empire and the Jewish collaborators. Faithful to his calling, John preached and demonstrated the life in wilderness and called his people to return to God.
