INTRODUCTION

When a person comes to Jesus in response to the Gospel. They are responding to the call of the Lord. They will receive wonderful blessings in Christ. Our opening verse reminds us that God calls us, through the Gospel. 2 Thessalonians 2:14; Mark 16:15-16. The purpose of being called is so that you can benefit from the sacrifice of Jesus that He made for your sins. 1 Corinthians 15:1-3.

Have you heard the voice of the Lord calling you through His gospel? Jesus said in Matthew 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen”. What does this mean in this context, being called is like being invited. It’s like being invited to be a disciple of Jesus, to be clothed in the proper garment as in to put Jesus on through baptism according to Galatians 3:27, and to get baptized, to following His footsteps. We’re called to spend eternity together with Him! Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14. Paul says this about the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4.

Today, you can accept the call and be cleansed in the blood of Jesus. The cleansing comes as one is baptized into Christ Jesus for the remission of their sins. For in baptism, you will be buried with Christ! Roman 6:3-8. In which your sins are washed away by the blood of Christ. NEVER TO BE REMEMBER AGAIN BY JESUS. ISN'T THAT EXCITING TO BE FORGIVEN, SET FREE, AND AT PEACE IN YOUR SOUL! Acts 22:16

We all come to Jesus weak and sinful. Luke 5:27-32; 19:10. The good news IS Jesus offers forgiveness from sin, freedom from the guilt of sin, AND bondage. Romans 8:1-2,12-13, John 8:34-36; Philippians 4:13

I. JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS

THE PROBLEM OF SIN
The Bible defines sin as a transgression of God’s law. 1 John 3:4. It also includes failing to do what one knows is good and right. James 4:17. The Bible declares that all have sinned. Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:8,10. Everyone is a sinner, even the "religious" need saving! Acts 10:1-2; 11:14. Do not assume you must become righteous and strong before you can come to Jesus!

THE GOSPEL IS GOD’S POWER TO SAVE.
Paul wrote that the gospel "is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes" Romans 1:16. It tells us how to be saved from our sins and the wrath of God to come.

BEWARE OF FALSE GOSPELS
Even in the first century, there were different gospels that distorted the gospel of Christ. Galatians 1:6-9. Are you sure that you have heard the true gospel of Christ?

THE GOSPEL MUST BE OBEYED
Peter raised the question, "what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?"1 Peter 4:17. Paul answers that there will be terrible consequences for "those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ" 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9

WE MUST BELIEVE THE GOSPEL
Otherwise, we will be lost - Mark 16:15-16; Romans 1:16. We must believe (trust) in Jesus who died for our sins. John 1:29; 3:16,36; 8:24. Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God?

WE MUST REPENT OF OUR SINS.
This means to make the decision to turn from our sins. Jesus wanted repentance proclaimed in His name to all nations. For those who seek to have their sins washed away by the blood of Jesus, Acts 22:16; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 3:21 Many have distorted the gospel by removing the command to be baptized.

II. THERE ARE PROMISES TO RECEIVE!

THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS...
By the blood of Jesus, our sins are washed away, blotted out. Acts 2:38; 3:19; 22:16
We enjoy forgiveness of sins, according to God’s grace. Ephesians 1:7. Don’t you want to be forgiven of every sin you’ve committed?

THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE
The wages of sins is death. Romans 6:23. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ!

THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Jesus promised to send the gift of the Holy Spirit. John 14:26; John 7:37-39; Acts 2:38-39.

The Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues is for power and for strength as we do the will of God and fight against sin.

The Holy Ghost Empowers the Christian as God’s instrumental agent - Ephesians 3:16; Romans 8:12-13

The Holy Ghost Enables the Christian to produce wonderful fruit and live holy - Galatians 5:22-23; Romans 15:13
