Who we are now, and how we ought to behave: the church will never be destroyed, but members can and will fall.
LESSON KEY WORDS
• Conversation (anastrepho in the Greek) is defined as behavior, conduct, lifestyle
• Nature (phusis in the Greek) is defined as inherent nature, origin, birth. A mode of feeling and acting which by long habit has become nature.
• Imitators (the Greek translation of follower is imitate): the positive imitation that comes from admiring the pattern set by someone worthy of emulation, i.e. a mentor setting a proper example. The supreme model is God himself.
LESSON AT A GLANCE
• We are members in particular of ONE body, One church… 1 Corinthians 12:27
○ "In particular" means a part, a share, a portion.
○ We all are different: in maturity, in strength, in perspective, but in the same spiritual family, just like in our physical families, we wish all would do their part and live accordingly. Easier said than done…
• Daniel had a perspective (focused on God), a conversation (faithful in his conduct; behavior). He was persecuted…treated harshly, but he was persevered through the Lord.
• Christians can fall from grace… Galatians 5:4
• We ALL have a past...Ephesians 2:3-4
• Mankind is full of trouble…may we never lose sight of this. Where there is mankind, there will be problems… Job 14:1; Proverbs 22:15
• God has given us an opportunity to take on a new nature and change our conversation.
○ When we are re-born, we are given a new nature to develop new habits.
○ Improved Conduct (see 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 4:1-3)
CALL TO ACTION
• Let us seek to imitate God and not man… 1 Corinthians 11:1; Ephesians 5:1-4
