God has one household. We were adopted into his family.

It is written in Ephesians 3:14-16, "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of who the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;"

KEY TERMS

* Prating - speaking idly (no action)
* Family - all the members of a household connected by blood, or through adoption.

KEY LESSON PRINCIPLES

1.) God has a family.
We become part of his family on earth, and those who are faithful onto death will meet the family in heaven.

* It is a ROYAL family with unlimited inheritance--and YOU choose to become part of it--to become a child of God--by obeying the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you don't obey the gospel, you can have no part in the family, nor receive the royal inheritance.

* The Holy Spirit is only given to those who obey the gospel of Jesus Christ. Only those in the royal family receive the gift of the holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).

2.) How is God's Family Described in the Scripture?

* As a brotherhood... 1 Peter 2:17
We should be nice to people and recognize them for being God's creation. Love the brotherhood.

* As your brethren... 1 Peter 5:8-9; 3 John 10
Our brothers and sisters in the faith have to go through some of the same afflictions that we go through. We are not alone!

* As children of God... Galatians 3:26-29; Romans 8:16-17
The world is very divisive, yet the bible puts us all together based on a common faith: if you trust in God, you will do what he says (v. 28). It is not about race or ethnicity, or gender, it is about your soul!

The Holy Spirit bears witness with the spirit of life (everybody has breath of life) that we are his children. See also Acts 5:32.

* As the household of God... Ephesians 2:19; 1 Timothy 3:14-16
We are no longer strangers or foreigners because we have been reconciled into one body through the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross (see Ephesians 2:16-17). The house of God is the church of the living God, who was revealed in the flesh (see 1 Timothy 3:15-16). The same living God was received up into glory (see Acts 1:9-11).
