1 Corinthians 8,

V. 11-12, Our actions can free or bind others

Paul continues in the same line of thought as in previous verses here in verses 11 and 12. Paul says that when we behave in a way in which we don’t take into consideration how others view our actions that we are actually sinning against Christ. He uses the terminology that those with “weaker consciences” can be misled by our freedom in Christ so we must assure for their sake that we do not even have an appearance of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:22) So, we have the power to either bring freedom or bondage to those around us based on how we live our lives in the public eye.

We can either lead others closer to Christ or drive them further away and that is why it is important that LOVE is the driving force behind everything that we do. If we truly love the world around us we will do everything in our power to lead them closer to God even if it means we denying ourselves of what we want. Love means we put God and others before ourselves.
