The #Bible says we are to have a good conscience according to 1 Peter 3:16 what does that mean?
New American Standard Bible
15 [in part] … Always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; 16 and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.
A more direct way of saying this today would be to keep a “clear conscience” as opposed …
Here is a reminder that for a committed disciple of Christ, that is, one who has not just cheapened grace by being saved then walking away from Christ and discipleship, but rather is truly a disciple of Jesus, an active member of the family of God, skeptics and others in Satan’s employee will be sniping at you and trying to compromise your witness.
Therefore it is wise to “keep a good conscience” so that those attacking you will themselves be put to shame.
As much as possible, treat those who attack your character and walk, with “gentleness and reverence.”
Sometimes this means skipping those activities in your life that Christ allows but provide ammunition for Christ’s enemies to attack you.
Examples are many and may be vague and frustrating.
In the past, traffic commercial don’t be “dead right”. Avoid “road rage”; let the other be right.
You need to decide which you need to avoid in order to not compromise your witness.
You have the right to drink alcohol but choose to avoid it.
It’s okay to eat meat on Friday’s but for the conservative Catholic having lunch with…
1 Corinthians 10:31
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Philippians 2: 15, 16 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.
