God Encourages David
1 Samuel 23:6-28

II. God works through providence and people to show his support for David

1. Background: Ahimelech brought the Ephod back to David, giving him access to God (22:20-23:6)

2. It gets desperate: Saul is coming, so David must ask God (7-14)
i. Saul parades his troops (7-8)
ii. David prays to his God (9-14)

3. It gets sad: David is discouraged, so God sends Jonathan to strengthen him (15-18)
i. David goes to into the wilderness
ii. Jonathan comes to encourage David

4. It gets worse: The encouragement is needed because Saul attempts to convince others God is for him (19-24)
i. The Ziphites give up David (19-20)
ii. Saul plans to capture David (21-25a)

5. It gets resolved: David is able to flee, showing God is for Him (25b-28)
i. David is threatened (25b-26)
ii. David is rescued (27-28)
