“The Day of the Lord Draws Near”
Matthew 24:21-31
1. The signs that the coming of the Lord is drawing near.
There will be false Christs
There will be wars and rumors of wars
Nation will rise to fight against nation
There will be famines and earthquakes.
There will be a global persecution of the church.
The love of many growing cold and there will be apostacy.
Before the end the gospel must also be proclaimed to all nations.
2. Other things that must happen before the coming of the Lord.
There will be a rebellion against God.
There will be man of lawlessness who will appear who is destined for destruction.
He will exalt himself to be worshipped over every object of worship, even the Lord God Almighty.
He will proclaim himself to be God.
3. What is meant by the Day of the Lord?
Amos, Joel, Zechariah and Isaiah all speak of the Day of the Lord.
A day of God’s judgment.
Isaiah 13:1-13
Behold, the day of the LORD comes,
cruel, with wrath and fierce anger,
to make the land a desolation
and to destroy its sinners from it.
4. There will be great tribulation before the day of the coming of the Son of Man.
The global tribulation or persecution must first come on the church.
1 Peter 4:16-17

5. What other warnings were given?
Matthew 24:36-51 Jesus also warned us about trying to figure out the day and hour.
It will be as the days of Noah when destruction came suddenly on the earth.
6. Jesus will come like a thief in the night.
Unexpectedly.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-4
Matthew 24:43-44
2 Peter 3:8-10
7. Who is this man of lawlessness?
Is he the same as the antichrist?
2 John 2:7-9
8. The antichrist will be as Paul told the Thessalonians.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
1 John 2:8-25
Conclusions:
Prophecy is given that we might have hope.
The prophesies of the end times give us a glimpse of the things yet to come at the end of this age.
The Day of the Lord is judgement for the world and salvation for his people who worship him.
Conclusions:
The Lord will come suddenly and unexpectedly.
The great tribulation and the appearance of the antichrist the man of lawlessness will come first.
·We Christians should not be surprised. We should always be ready.
