Song # 1068.2 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. The Book of Deuteronomy tells us in chapter 30, that Moses told the people to follow God’s commands, and not to follow other gods. Each person must choose between life and death, prosperity and destruction. Those who choose God, choose life. Those who worship and bow down to other gods will surely be destroyed. The advice Moses gave to the Israelites is still valid for us today.
Moses said to the Israelites: “Who will ascend into heaven” (Deuteronomy 30:12). “Who will cross the sea” (Deuteronomy 30:13). “Who will hear the word of God for the word is already here” (Deuteronomy 30:14). “See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction” (Deuteronomy 30:15). “For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commands, decrees and laws, then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess (Deuteronomy 30:16). But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them (Deuteronomy 30:17), I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess (Deuteronomy 30:18). This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live (Deuteronomy 30:19), and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him. For the Lord is your life, and He will give you many years in the land He swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Deuteronomy 30:20).
Thought for today: our living God can take the fear out of our living.
Thought for the future: the richest people in the world, are those who invest in heaven. Where will you spend your eternity?
