We look at another facet of communion with the Holy Spirit - "He bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God." He not only shows us that He loves us. He shows us the extent of that love: that we would be His children.

We consider two things:
*First, that the Spirit gives us this relationship to God in Christ.
*Second, that the Spirit shows us we have this relationship.

Has He shown you that you're a true believer? Then rejoice and praise Him!

Has He withheld this assurance from you? Then seek Him more earnestly through faith and repentance, the means of grace, and Christian service until He grants it to you.

Has He shown you that you've deceived yourself and you are not a true believer at all? Then repent, turn to Christ, trust in Him for salvation and ask Him for His Spirit of adoption to dwell richly in you.
