“A Lifestyle of Prayer”
Acts 10:1-23
1. Introduction
Worship is the only proper response when one comes to know the Lord.
Through prayer we fellowship and grow in our relationship with the Lord.
2. If we are called to worship and serve God through prayer, why is it so hard for us to have consistent prayer lives?
How does one develop a lifestyle of prayer?
A. We need a private place and time to pray.
Matthew 6:6
Luke 5:15-16
Luke 6:12-16
B. A habit of prayer requires setting a priority for prayer.
Daniel 6:6-28
When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.
Cornelius the Centurion
Acts 10:1-48
A devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God.
C. We need to recognize the times that call for earnest persistent intercessory prayers.
Acts 12:1-5 Peter in Prison
Acts 13:1-3 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
3. The call for laborers
Matthew 9:35-38
Pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
Colossians 4:2-4
Be steadfast and watchful in prayer with thanksgiving. Pray for those who are laborers in the kingdom.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Conclusions:
We each need a daily private time and place to pray and worship the Lord.
Pray persistently and have a priority for prayer.
Pray in faith.
Pray about all things and put your dependency in Him who answers.
Pray according to God’s will.
We need to recognize the urgency for prayer.
Pray for the advance of his kingdom for others to come to salvation and for the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
Pray for the growth of our congregation
Pray for laborers for the harvest.
