12 Kynhun Angel (12 Legions of Angels) Matthew 26:53-54
When the LORD Jesus Christ was on the earth, before His death, burial and resurrection and ascension to Heaven, from whence He would return shortly, angels ministered unto Him numerous times. When He was born in Bethlehem, angels announced His birth to lowly shepherds (Luke 2:8-15), when Herod sought to kill the LORD Jesus Christ as a child (not baby) the angel of the LORD warned Joseph (Matthew 2:13,19 etc) After the temptation by the devil, they ministered unto Him (Matthew 4:11); Before His suffering, shame and crucifixion, an angel appeared to the LORD Jesus Christ to strengthen Him at the garden of Gethsemane (Luke 22:43) when the LORD Jesus Christ resurrected, the angel of the LORD descended from heaven and rolled back the stone (Matthew 28:2); When the LORD Jesus Christ ascended to heaven after His resurrection and after meeting with His disciples and being seen of His disciples 40 days, angels appeared to declare His return for the Church (Acts 1:10 etc) Angels worship the LORD Jesus Christ from everlasting to everlasting, and they hearken Him (Psalm 103:20) Angels are created to be more powerful than man (Psalm 8:5) and there are many instances when men fainted upon meeting an angel (Daniel 8; Daniel 10; Matthew 28:4 etc) Angels are spirit, and a flame of fire; then there are cherubims and seraphims which are more powerful than men. The Old Testament has numerous accounts of angels overpowering mortal men, even when the angels were numerically out numbered (Genesis 19:11, etc) The point is this, angels wait on the LORD Jesus Christ and obey His commands; yet when it was time for Him to suffer and die on the cross, shedding His blood for us, they could do nothing to help Him, even though they are always ready at His command (Matthew 26:53-54) BUT, the LORD Jesus Christ voluntarily chose to suffer the painful and shameful death on the cross, to pay the price for our Salvation! Imagine, having a way out from the most gruesome pain and shameful death, for which one did not deserve (Psalm 22:1-22; Isaiah 53) and yet choosing to go through it, for there is NO OTHER WAY or PRICE to pay for our Salvation! No wonder angels desire to look into such a wondrous plan and sacrifice, for when angels fell which followed the enemy and lusted after women the LORD Jesus Christ never came for their Salvation! Thinking you can earn Salvation is therefore spitting on the FINISHED WORK of the LORD Jesus Christ and His precious blood. Come as you are to Him this moment and He will give Salvation as a free gift, for we will never be good enough to be saved and remain saved! (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 6:23; John 3:16)
