Song # 1351.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. In the Book of Philippians, in chapter 3, Paul writes to the first Church he established on European soil, at Philippi in the Roman province of Macedonia.
Forget what is behind you and strain towards what is ahead (Philippians 3:13). Press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenwards in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14). All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you (Philippians 3:15). Only let us live up to what we have already attained (Philippians 3:16). Join with others and take note of those who live according to His righteous ways (Philippians 3:17). For many live as enemies of the cross of Christ (Philippians 3:18). Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things (Philippians 3:19). But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:20), who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body (Philippians 3:21).
Thought for today: the Lamb who died for us, is now our Good Shepherd who leads us.
Thought for the future: Christ’s cleansing power can remove the stain of sin. Where will you spend your eternity?
