Song # 1604.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. In Acts chapter 14 we read that Paul and Barnabas travelled and preached in Derbe, Lystra, Iconium, Antioch, Pisidia, Pamphylia, Perga then sailed back to Antioch.
Paul and Barnabas preached the Good News in Derbe, and won over a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch (Acts 14:21), strengthening and encouraging the disciples to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God” they said (Acts 14:22). Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each Church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust (Acts 14:23). After going through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia (Acts 14:24), and when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia (Acts 14:25). From Attalia they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work they had now completed (Acts 14:26). On arriving there, they gathered the Church together and reported all that God had done through them and how He opened the door of faith to the Gentiles (Acts 14:27).
Thought for today: God’s certainty will see us through life’s uncertainties.
Thought for the future: your love for God can change the world, but don’t let the world change your love for God. Where will you spend your eternity?
