Song # 1647.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. In the Book of Revelation we read in chapter 1 about the seven stars and the seven lampstands, representing the seven Angels of the Churches, and the seven Churches. The seven Churches were at: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.
John turned around to the voice that was speaking to him, and he saw seven golden lampstands (Revelation 1:12), and among the lampstands was someone ‘like the Son of Man’, dressed in a robe reaching down to His feet and with a golden sash around His chest (Revelation 1:13). His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like blazing fire (Revelation 1:14). His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of rushing waters (Revelation 1:15). In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance (Revelation 1:16). When John saw Him, he fell at His feet as though dead. Then the Lord placed His right hand on John and said “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last (Revelation 1:17). I am the Living One, I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades” (Revelation 1:18). “Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later” (Revelation 1:19). “The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven lampstands is this. The seven stars are the Angels of the seven Churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven Churches (Revelation 1:20).
Thought for today: His love was shown when God came as a man.
Thought for the future: trust in God today, and prepare for your tomorrow. Where will you spend your eternity?
