Song # 1655.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. In the Book of Revelation we read in chapter 18 about the sinful city of Babylon.
An Angel from heaven said “Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable person” (Revelation 18:2). “For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her sins. The kings of the earth committed sins with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries” (Revelation 18:3). Another voice from heaven said “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues” (Revelation 18:4). “For her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes” (Revelation 18:5). “Give back to her as she has given, pay her back double for what she has done. Mix her a double portion from her own cup” (Revelation 18:6). “Give her as much torture and grief as the glory and luxury she gave herself. In her heart she boasts ‘I sit as queen, I am not a widow, and I will never mourn’” (Revelation 18:7). “Therefore in one day her plagues will overtake her, death, mourning and famine. She will be consumed by fire, for mighty is the Lord God who judges her” (Revelation 18:8).
Thought for today: God tests our faith, so that we can trust in His faithfulness.
Thought for the future: one of God’s greatest presents, is His presence in our life. Where will you spend your eternity?
