Song # 1895.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. We read in the Holy Bible in the Book of Luke that a rich ruler asked Jesus how to inherit eternal life.
A certain ruler asked Jesus “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 18:18). “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No-one is good - except God alone” (Luke 18:19). “You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honour your father and your mother’” (Luke 18:20). “All these things I have kept since I was a boy” the man said (Luke 18:21). When Jesus heard this, He said to the man “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me” (Luke 18:22). When the man heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth (Luke 18:23). Jesus looked at him and said “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” (Luke 18:24). “Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God” (Luke 18:25).
Thought for today: it’s not what you know, or who you are, but who you know that matters.
Thought for the future: Jesus asks us to join Him for life. Where will you spend your eternity?
