Song # 1983.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. The Psalms in the Old Testament section of the Holy Bible, is a collection of hymns and prayers gathered together over a long period of time, and they are of many kinds. Some reflect worshipping God, while others are prayers and hymns calling for help, protection, forgiveness, salvation and songs of thanksgiving. The song “I Will Remember” comes from Psalm 77.
Since the beginning, God has shown His love, compassion and faithfulness to those who trust and follow His one and only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. No matter where we look, or where we go, we can see the abundance of God’s love for us. Psalm 77 tells of His mighty power and how He led His people to safety through the sea by holding back the waters.
I will remember the deeds of the Lord, yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago (Psalm 77:11). I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds (Psalm 77:12). Your ways, oh God, are Holy. What god is so great as our God? (Psalm 77:13). You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples (Psalm 77:14). With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph (Psalm 77:15). The waters saw you, oh God (Psalm 77:16). The skies resounded with thunder (Psalm 77:17). Your lightning lit up the world (Psalm 77:18). Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen (Psalm 77:19). You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron (Psalm 77:20).
Thought for today: no-one is more secure than those in God’s hands.
Thought for the future: we may not have all we want, but with God, we have all we need. Where will you spend your eternity?
