2 Corinthians 8
V. 20-21, Money distributed properly
Paul addresses something that is very important when we talk about giving to God’s Kingdom, we must ensure that whom we are giving too is trustworthy. In verses 20 and 21 Paul lets the church of Corinth know that they are doing everything right with the money they collect so that there can be no criticism of the giving. He says they are taking steps to make sure that everything is on the up and up not only in the eyes of man but also in the eyes of the Lord. Paul didn’t want anyone to have to worry whether the money they were giving was going to the place they said it was going. As believer we should be good stewards and give to individuals, churches, and organization that are good stewards of the donations they receive. They should be open and honest with where the funds are being used and who is benefiting from their use. We shouldn’t just blindly hand over God’s money into the hands of just any individual.
We live in a day and time where we truly must be wary of individuals because many seek to pray upon the generosity of the church. We shouldn’t be paranoid about giving or assisting those in need but if we have questions it is ok to ask them. If something doesn’t set right with your spirit, then seek out the truth before giving. As a rule of thumb individuals who are doing what right don’t care to share with other information that proves they are doing what is right. On the other hand, those who are not doing what is right usually won’t want to share information and will act offended that you even asked. Trust in the Spirit and invest in God’s Kingdom where you know it is being used to benefit His Kingdom
