Why do we believe that Alexander the Great lived 2300 years ago, was the king of Greece and conquered the known world? Why do we believe that Julius Caesar lived 2000 years ago, conquered Europe and established the Roman Empire? You weren't there. None of us were there!

The answer is that we accept credible historical evidence! Alexander's generals wrote about him. Cicero and Sallust wrote about Julius Caesar. Andy even though none of us were present when Jesus lived on earth, we have credible historical evidence about Him -- from many people including John the Baptist and John the Evangelist. If we can believe testimony about Alexander and Caesar, surely we can accept testimony about Jesus Christ Who left behind an enduring Empire infinitely greater than all the Kingdoms there ever were or ever will be!

As C.S. Lewis wrote: "I have to believe that Jesus was (and is) God.
The ordinary person believes in the solar system, atoms,
and the circulation of the blood on authority -- because the scientists say so. Every historical statement is believed on authority. None of us has seen the Norman Conquest or the defeat of the Spanish Armada. But we believe them simply because people who did see them have left writings that tell us about them." (C.S.
