Brennen is a deacon from Grace Community Church in Surrey, works as a paramedic on the Sunshine Coast and is a generally high quality young man who loves to serve the Lord in any way He leads. When the Lord asks, Brennen’s default answer is “Yes.”

Chris August in his song “Battle” writes, “Life’s a fight of wrong and right and it’s tearing me apart. Oh but what the Cross has done. Yes the world will try to battle for my heart, but the war is already won.” These words describe the Christian walk. Paul himself alludes to this in the 7th chapter of the book of Romans when he writes about his own battle between the flesh and the spirit. The truth is, it’s a massive battle and a complicated one at that! It’s a battle that sometimes we as Christians run the risk of underestimating or even not realizing its going on. It’s a battle inside of us, both spiritually and physically. Even our own physiology is wired against. Add this to the spiritual battle between our flesh and spirit, we have a real fight on our hands. But is this really a big deal? Well the Bible says yes because after all, it’s sin against a perfectly holy God who created literally everything around us. Yet this same God has realized that such a battle exists and has done something wonderful about it. He sent Jesus who by his death and resurrection, has paid the eternal penalty for such a sin and given us his Spirit that enables us battle this sin problem with new power!
