Dr. Akin currently serves as the President of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and is a Professor of Preaching and Theology. Dr. Akin is passionate for a Great Commission Resurgence in North America and around the world. He sees the calling of SEBTS to serve the churches of the Southern Baptist Convention by equipping the men and women sent to us to be Great Commission leaders who will build Great Commission churches. This agenda is placed upon us by the final marching orders of our commander-in-chief, King Jesus, who commanded us to go and make disciples of all the nations (Matthew 28:18-20). Dr. Akin and his wife Charlotte have traveled to Sudan, Turkey, Middle East, Kenya, Asia, Central Asia, Thailand, India and Paraguay serving our students and missionaries and helping share the gospel.
