"Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12).

The beauty of God’s revelation in the Bible is that we are not relegated to the common (and frustrating) practice of “live and learn”. By His grace and kindness, we are given the opportunity to “learn and live!” Big difference.

The old adage ‘Live & Learn’ assumes all lessons must be learned by stumbling and falling – a few divorces, a few bankruptcies, a few STI’s, a few addictions, a little time spent in jail for good measure, but in the end, “YES! I learned! And I learned the hard way!” So goes the doctrine of ‘live and learn’.

But God surely has another way of teaching us! By His mercy and kindness, He has revealed Wisdom and Truth so that for those who are willing, tremendous learning can take place at the front end as we learn the Gospel, learn the knowledge of God, learn the fear of the Lord and learn the Truth! Then, armed with these precious treasures, the redeemed go out and live what they’ve learned. And it goes well with them – both in this life and in the life to come. So goes the superior doctrine of ‘Learn and live.’ To ‘Learn and live’ is the Way of Wisdom. Blessed are those who find it!
