"I could wish you nothing better today than the blessing of turning to Christ early and already being a Christian when you are young!” Let the joy of Christ come that your sins are forgiven early; that the peace of Christ reigning in your heart comes early; that total security in Christ is received early. There is nothing more valuable than these blessings!
BUT THERE’S MORE! To be a Christian already when you are young saves you from a thousand snares, a thousand bad memories, a thousand forbidden fruits, a thousand experiences you wish you’d never had. Can anyone calculate how much this blessing is worth?
BUT THERE’S MORE! To bear the yoke of Christ in your youth saves you from having your shoulders bruised and mangled by bearing the yoke of the devil for decades. He is a slave-maker. He brings people into heavy habits that become part of you. Removing them is like tearing away flesh! Such is the curse of drug addiction, cigarettes, alcoholism, pornography and many more burdens. Happy are those who receive their Redeemer early in the morning of their life and slam the door on the devil and his legion of evil spirits for the rest of their earthly day!
BUT THERE’S MORE! To be a Christian already when you are young gives you a longer time in which to serve God. How much better to start serving the one you love from your youth up, giving Him your best days when all the birds are still singing, the sun is still shining, before the shadows begin to fall and to continue serving Him into the evening of old age. There is no more precious sight than that of a little old grey-haired man or a little old grey-haired lady serving the Lord Jesus from their youth up!
BUT THERE’S MORE! To be a Christian already when you are young gives you the time needed to become well-established in the things of God. The lessons of His Kingdom cannot be learned in 10 minutes! We should all thank God that even though it is possible to be saved in one second, that person cannot be a instantly mature and established believer. These things take time. When we come to Jesus, we enter His School, we sit at His Feet, we learn from Him. Who is the best student? The one who comes early or the one who comes late?
How good it is to begin to know Christ early in life. With more time, you will love Him more. With more time, you will understand Him more. Welcome dear friends, to Home Church Langley!
