The Bible is full of principles to teach us how to walk with God. We used to go to a home group meeting years ago and we would study a different principle of the Bible each week. Principles like:

• Give and it will be given you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Luke 6:38)
• If my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Or remember in 1 Samuel how Hannah cried out to God for a Son and God gave her the desire of her heart in Samuel. Lots of principles.

On the other hand, there are also many lessons in the Bible where the children of God desired the wrong thing and God still gave it to them – but it sure cost them! We also read that when a king did that what was right in the sight of the Lord, God blessed them. When a king did what was wrong in the sight of the Lord, the Lord punished them. He gave them the desire of their heart and dealt with them accordingly.
