Young Isaac's question was, "My father? The fire and the wood are here, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" Abraham's answer of faith was that "God Himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And God's solution? The ram in the thicket. "So Abraham called that place "Jehovah Jireh", which means, "The Lord Will Provide." And to this day it is said, 'On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.' (Genesis 22:7-8,14)
Oh! Let's savor that Name! Jehovah means, "The Lord" and Jireh means, "to see to a matter." Where was the lamb for the sacrifice? Don't worry, the Lord Himself will "see to it." He has everything under His control. He will "see to it" that what is needed will be provided in due time. If you trust the Lord and walk by faith in Him, He will "see to" a great many things! His Name is "Jehovah Jireh" and it is in His very nature and character to "see to" things on our behalf, most significantly, He has seen to our need for a substitute, providing His very own Son.
So, on this Thanksgiving Sunday, let us give thanks that our God "sees" and our God "sees to" things, providing for and meeting the needs and cares of His people down through the ages. Let us give thanks from the deepest recesses of our heart and mind!
Welcome, dearest friends, to Home Church Langley!
