Song # 2067 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. In Jeremiah chapter 18 we read that Jeremiah is asking God to deal with his accusers and all the people who have sinned against God.
Listen to me, oh Lord; hear what my accusers are saying! (Jeremiah 18:19). Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me. Remember that I stood before you and spoke on their behalf to turn your wrath away from them (Jeremiah 18:20). So give their children over to famine; hand them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives be made childless and widows; let their men be put to death, their young men slain by the sword in battle (Jeremiah 18:21). Let a cry be heard from their houses when you suddenly bring invaders against them, for they have dug a pit to capture me and have hidden snares for my feet (Jeremiah 18:22). But you know, oh Lord; all their plots to kill me. Do not forgive their crimes or blot out their sins from your sight. Let them be overthrown before you; deal with them in the time of your anger (Jeremiah 18:23).
Thought for today: God’s help is only a prayer away.
Thought for the future: eyes of faith see God’s work. Where will you spend your eternity?
