1 Peter 2:24-25 ESV
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

THANK GOD IT’S GOOD FRIDAY.

A blessed ‘Good Friday’ greeting to all.

As we commemorate the passion and death of Christ, let’s go back to its true significance. The restrictions to do religious gatherings and festivities today may cause many to feel that we individually can focus on its spiritual significance.

Why did Jesus suffer at the cross?

Jesus had carried all our sins on the cross in His body. His death is the payment for all our sins. He became our substitute, dying the death we deserved. The God who judges justly (1 Pet 2:23) had judged Christ for our sin during His crucifixion. God has poured His wrath towards His own Son in order to satisfy the payment for our sin. As the apostle Paul wrote, “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”[2 Cor 5:21]

By His perfect sacrifice at the cross, we have been freed from the penalty and power of sin. Such freedom is through grace by faith alone in Christ.[ Eph 2:8,9] Believers are free and empowered now to live a righteous life. We don't have to sin; we are free to make right choices that please and honor our God (1 Cor 10:13) Otherwise, we are all miserable and hopeless before the holy God.

After a weary week long work at the work places, many people do express a sigh of relief saying, “Thank God its Friday!” How I wish many do breath a sigh of spiritual relief also today, to say, “Thank God it’s Good Friday!” This is only possible to everyone who had sincerely received forgiveness and salvation from sin by faith in Christ. Have you trusted Jesus in your heart as your Savior and Lord as yet? I hope and pray you did. And, if you have not done it yet, may today you’ll do. And this day will really be a “Good Friday” to you, even all the rest of the days of your life.
