The Lord’s Day—March 22, 2020

Order of Worship

CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 56)
Be gracious to me, O God!
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust
I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
This I know, that God is for me.
In God, whose word I praise
In the Lord, whose word I praise,
In God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
I must perform my vows to you, O God;
I will render thank offerings to you.
For you have delivered my soul from death,
yes, my feet from falling,
that I may walk before God in the light of life.

INVOCATION

HYMNS OF PRAISE

What, though th’ Accuser Roar
Whitlock Gandy, From Hymns for the Little Flock No. 12 in Appendix
Tune by Ben Morrison 2019

What though th' accuser roar Of ills that I have done!
I know them well, and thousands more:
Jehovah findeth none. Jehovah findeth none.

Sin, Satan, death appear To harass and appall;
Yet since the gracious Lord is near,
Backward they go and fall. Backward they go and fall.

Before, behind, around, They set their fierce array,
To fight and force me from the ground,
Along life's narrow way. Along life's narrow way.

I meet them face to face, Through Jesus' conquest blest;
March in the triumph of His grace
Right onward to my rest. Right onward to my rest.

There, in His book, I bear More than a conqueror's name,
Of soldier, son and fellow-heir,
Who fought and overcame. Who fought and overcame.

Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners
Public Domain.  Words: John Wilbur Chapman  Music: Prichard

Jesus! What a friend for sinners!
Jesus! Lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Savior, makes me whole.

Chorus:
Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Hallelujah! What a friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.

Jesus! What a strength in weakness!
Let me hide myself in Him.
Tempted, tried, and sometimes failing,
He, my strength, my victory wins. (Repeat chorus)

Jesus! What a help in sorrow!
While the billows o’er me roll,
Even when my heart is breaking,
He, my comfort, helps my soul. (Repeat chorus)

Jesus! I do now receive Him,
More than all in Him I find.
He hath granted me forgiveness,
I am His, and He is mine. (Repeat chorus)

Additional Lyrics by Ben Morrison 2016

Oh, breaker of my hardened heart,
Oh fast pursuing lover come!
The hound of heav’n won’t be denied,
My life, my soul, will be Your prize.

No empty works of mislaid faith,
Nor trust in that which cannot save
Will be the beacon of my life,
For only You can best the grave.

Chorus:
Oh Love of Christ so melt my pride
That I can in Thy house but kneel,
And from my brokenness a cry
Of worship springs to Thee!

When beauty breaks the wall of pain
Once deafened ears now hear the strain
Of angel choirs legions strong
And wakened voices join the song. (Chorus)

Sweet Jesus carry me away
From cold of night and dust of day
When all Your plans have been fulfilled
My Jesus love me, love me still. (Chorus x 2)

Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me
Lyrics:  Edward Hopper  Tune: Robbie Seay Band
Arrangement (in 4/4):  Ben Morrison

Jesus, Savior, pilot me over life’s tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll, Hiding rock and treacherous shoal.
Chart and compass come from Thee;
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
Chart and compass come from Thee;
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

Though the sea be smooth and bright, Sparkling with the stars of night,
And my ship’s path be ablaze With the light of halcyon days,
Still I know my need of Thee;
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
Still I know my need of Thee;
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

When the darkling heavens frown, And the wrathful winds come down,
And the fierce waves, tossed on high, Lash themselves against the sky,
Over life’s tempestuous sea,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
Over life’s tempestuous sea,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

As a mother stills her child, You can hush the ocean wild;
Boisterous waves obey Your will, When You say to them, “Be still!”
Wondrous Sovereign of the sea,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
Wondrous Sovereign of the sea,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

When at last I near the shore, And the fearful breakers roar
’Twixt me and the peaceful rest, Then, while leaning on Your breast,
May I hear You say to me,
“Fear not, I will pilot thee.”
May I hear You say to me,
Fear not, I will pilot thee.”
