It takes time and effort to get a physical fire ignited into full flames. It takes time and knowledge. Every time we open up God’s Word it ignites us- the breath of God sparks the flame inside us.
This requires action on our part. We need to be intentional with our faith, little by little, stick by stick to build a fire.
We all have been given a spiritual gift which needs igniting.
“breathe life into”… God made you who you are….
Reference to Genesis 2:7
God breathed into Adam’s nostrils: “Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7).
God is life and God is fire. God appears in fire throughout the Bible.
Reference to Revelation 3:16
"But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!"
Let’s not be lukewarm! If we are lukewarm then we miss out on what God has for us and discovering our spiritual gifts. Our gifts can lie dormant we just need God’s breath of life to fan it into flames.
Discovering our spiritual gifts
Reference to Charles Stanley:
• What do you enjoy doing most when serving the Lord?
• What motivates you? What excites you?
• Conversely when you have served what has drained you?
Your passion can be your ministry.
We as the body of Christ have all been given different gifts. “For the body is not one member, but many.’ 1 Corinthians 12: 4-14.
When we come together as community this is when we form one body. Avoid the comparison mode!
1 Corinthians 12: 4-6: “There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all."
Don’t think we are insignificant as it grieves the spirit.
Reference to 1 Corinthians 12:23: ‘And the parts we regard as less honourable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen.”
• What is it that the Holy Spirit could fully work through you?
• Where does God lead your heart when reading scriptures?
Don’t focus on gift, focus on Jesus. You need His oxygen to fan the flames of your gift!
Receive God’s love… that is enough.
FOCUS ON THE GIVER BEFORE THE GIFT.
Matthew 6:33: “Seek the Kingdom of God[ above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
Amen!
