Song # 775.2 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. Luke tells us in chapter 4 that Jesus drove a demon out of a man in the synagogue.
Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath began to teach the people (Luke 4:31). They were amazed at His teaching, because His message had authority (Luke 4:32). In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an evil spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice (Luke 4:33), “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are - the Holy One of God!” (Luke 4:34). “Be quiet” Jesus sternly said “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him (Luke 4:35). All the people were amazed and said to each other “What is this teaching? With authority and power He gives orders to evil spirits and they come out!” (Luke 4:36). And the news about Him spread throughout the surrounding area (Luke 4:37).
Thought for today: His love was shown when He came as a man.
Thought for the future: Jesus knows the way to heaven, follow Him for life. Where will you spend your eternity?
